Subject: Appeal reference: APP/W0340W/17/3185410

Dear Sir

I write to support the decision by West Berkshire Council Planning Department to refuse the change of use from public house (Class A4) to four dwellings houses (Class C3) and associated external alterations, landscaping and car parking.   The reference number for this application was 15/02727/FULD and the Appeal reference is  APP/W0340W/17/3185410

The White Hart is perfectly viable as a public house as has been proved by many similar pubs that operate in West Berkshire.  There is enormous support from the local community to make any new operator of these premises as a public house, be able to run a successful business.  The White Hart can service a supportive local community but could also attract business from the nearby towns of Newbury and Hungerford.

As someone who has been actively involved with campaigns to keep pubs open in West Berkshire, I can confirm that I reject the idea that it is uneconomic for this property to remain as public house.  I hope the appeal will recognise the very strong case made to Wwest Berkshire Council Planning Department and uphold the decision to refuse the change of use from a public house to 4 dwellings.

Yours faithfully

Richard Benyon
